Privacy notice

What we collect, why we need it, and what we will never do with it.

Last updated 2026 · Cudos Funerals Pty Ltd

This notice explains how Cudos Funerals Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”) handles your personal information, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible

Cudos Funerals Pty Ltd, 159 Ditike Street, Khubvi, Thohoyandou, 0984, South Africa, is the responsible party for the information described here. You may reach our information officer at info@cudosfunerals.co.za or on 066 089 9883.

What we collect

  • To register a policy: full names, ID number, cellphone number, the plan chosen, the members covered and their ages, and your debit order details.
  • To handle a claim: the documents listed in our terms, including IDs, the notification of death, the death certificate and the beneficiary’s bank details.
  • To answer an enquiry: the name, cellphone number and any details you type into a form on this website.
  • From the website itself: nothing beyond what your browser sends to our hosting provider in the ordinary course of serving a page. This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party tracking.

Why we need it

  • To register and administer your policy, and to collect premiums.
  • To assess and pay a claim.
  • To contact you on WhatsApp or by phone about your policy or your enquiry.
  • To meet our obligations under insurance, financial services and tax law.

We ask for your ID number because an insurance policy cannot lawfully be registered without it. We do not use it for anything else.

Who we share it with

  • The insurer underwriting your policy, [underwriter name], where a policy or a claim requires it.
  • Banks and payment providers, to collect your premium or pay a claim.
  • Home Affairs and the relevant authorities, where a death registration, burial order or transport permit requires it.
  • Our hosting and email providers, who process data on our instruction only.

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to marketers.

How long we keep it

Policy and claim records are kept for at least five years after the policy ends, as financial services law requires. Enquiry messages that do not become policies are deleted once the question has been answered.

Your rights

  • To ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • To have information that is wrong corrected, or information we no longer need deleted.
  • To object to us using your information for anything beyond administering your policy.
  • To withdraw consent to receive messages from us, without affecting your cover.
  • To complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these, phone the office or write to info@cudosfunerals.co.za.

Keeping it safe

Policy records are kept at the Khubvi office and with our administration provider under access control. Forms on this website are sent over an encrypted connection. Details you type into a form are held in your own browser only until the form is sent.
