The rules, in plain words

We say these before you sign, not after. If anything here is unclear, phone the office and ask.

  • Cover starts once your first premium is received and the waiting period has passed.
  • Natural death: a 6-month waiting period applies.
  • Accidental death: a 1-month waiting period applies.
  • Suicide: a 24-month waiting period applies.
  • No joining fee and no medical examination is required.
  • Missing your 1st, 2nd or 3rd payment lapses the policy automatically, without notification.
  • Premiums are not waived at any age or for any reason.
  • Extended family may be added at any time at the rates on the cash benefits page.

Questions families ask

About the plans

How many people can one plan cover?
Up to 13 people plus the policy holder. Immediate family is included in the monthly payment shown; extended family members are added at their own rate depending on age and cover.
Is there an age limit?
The joining age is 18. Cover for the main member is available up to age 80. Extended family may be added up to age 94 at the rates shown on the cash benefits page.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Missing your 1st, 2nd or 3rd payment lapses the policy automatically and no notification is sent. This is why we ask everyone to move to a Debi Check debit order — the premium is then collected on a date you choose.
Can I use a different funeral parlour?
Yes. On Standard we pay R2 000 back to the family and on VIP R3 000, if you choose to have the service arranged elsewhere.
Do I need a medical examination?
No. We need your full names and your ID number to register the policy. Nothing else is required on the day you join.
